The roads are mix of well paved & unmetalled with rugged terrain yet too scenic to be tired.
Tentative Itinerary Subjected to Weather conditions :
July 2nd
Day 1: Arrival at Manali. Check into a Hotel. Visit Local Market in the evening.
You will arrive in Manali by 10 AM and complete the check-in formalities at the hotel and relax for the day.
Day 2: Visit Solang Valley and Hidimba Temple.
Get ready for local sightseeing of Manali. Today you will visit Solang Valley which is renowned as the preferred location for adventure activities in Himachal Pradesh. Solang Valley offers parachuting, paragliding, skating, and zorbing. It is 8500 feet above sea level. Later visit 450 years old Hadimba Devi Temple built in the tranquil and serene woods, the oldest temple in Manali, Tibetan center & monastery, Club House, Vanvihar and Vashisht village, known for its hot sulfur springs based on time available. Later, come back to the hotel for a comfortable overnight stay.
Day 3: Manali to Jispa.
Note: Rohtang Pass is quite crowded due to tourist inrush. Please have breakfast after Rohtang pass. Start very early so that you can give a pass to the traffic.
Today wake up by 5:00 AM and Get ready for an exciting day. Start your journey to Rohtang Pass positioned at an altitude of 3798 m. This would really turn out to be a challenge as the roads you will go through are really bad and the weather conditions are also uncertain. Pass through the Lahaul Valley and enjoy watching its several villages and confluence of Chandra and Bhaga Rivers etc. You will arrive Jispa by evening. Check-in at the hotel/Camps.
Day 4: Jipsa to Leh
Note: Please start early by 7:00 AM.
Get Ready for one of the most interesting high altitudes drives up to Leh. As you leave Jispa behind, enter the Greater Himalayan landscape. This highway route takes you into the heart of the mountains. On the way to Leh, we will cross Darcha, Sarchu and treat your eyes to the wonderful views as you are driving on Baralachha Pass (5000 m) and Tanglang-La (5350 m) (‘La’ means Pass), the second-highest motorable mountain pass in the world. As you cross the pass, you enter into the mountainous roads of Leh. On the way, we can see the monasteries of Shey and Thiksey made on hilltops. Reach Leh late in the evening, get check in and relax.
Day 5: Leh to Pangong. Stay at the Lake.
The day is scheduled for visiting one of the most popular lakes in Leh, Pangong Lake situated at 14,000 feet, is bisected by the international border between India and China. The largest brackish water lake in Asia is one of the best attraction of Ladakh. The two-third portion of the lake lies in China. On arrival at Pangong check into camps and enjoy the breathtaking views of crystal clear lake blessed with so many intriguing shades of blue. Overnight stay at camps in Pangong.
Please visit Shey and Thiksey Monastery on the way.
Day 6: Pangong to Leh.
Today early morning after having breakfast checkout from camps and start driving back to Leh. On the way back to Leh visit Hemis Monastery and 3 idiots school. Upon arrival check into a hotel and enjoy a great view of the Indus Valley and the Zanskar range. Spend your time exploring the local places. Later, come back to the hotel for a comfortable overnight stay.
Day 7: Leh to Khardung La to Nubra Valley.
On the way visit the very popular Khardungla Pass, lying at an altitude of 18360 feet above the sea level around 39 km from Leh. It is one of the world’s highest mountain passes. Have a cup of Tea there, get yourself clicked with the Khardungla Signboard by Border Road Officers & head towards Nubra valley known as Ldumra or the valley of flowers. The average altitude of the valley is 10,000 feet above sea level. Upon arrival in Nubra check into Camp. In the evening, go for unique double-humped camel ride across the desert.
Day 8: Nubra Valley to Leh.
Today after having breakfast check out from the camps, ride back to Leh. This is going to be your last day in Leh. Spend the day in exploring the wonderful attractions of Leh and shop at bazaars. In the evening, take rest in the peaceful residential suburb of Changspa and later enjoy your dinner with huge glasses of beer or the local hooch-chhang. Overnight at hotel in Leh.
Day 9: Take Flight from Leh.
